The producer Masahisa Yamada reportedly put so much effort into the live-action scenes during shooting that he considered it part of a martial arts trilogy alongside Karate Sanshiro and Kurayami Godan. Later、 the series gained attention when its first episode was included in a digitally remastered DVD titled Onen no Kessaku Terebi Eiga Dai-ichiwa Tokushu (Classic TV Movie Episode 1 Special Collection)、 released by Best Field on January 8、 2020.The original manga、 Attack Ken、 was serialized in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday from issue 37 to 46 in 1965.
