SynopsisIron KingThe Shiranui Clan were an indigenous people that were banished by the Yamato Dynasty 2000 years ago. The Shiranui Ten、 led by their leader Taro Shiranui、 who is a descendant of the clan、 rebel against the Japanese government、 launching a war with their colossal robots.Immediately detecting this threat、 the National Security Organization decides to send Gentaro Shizuka、 a young top-notch agent who is cheerful and lovable but has a soft spot for beautiful women、 to deal with the enemy. He has as his partner Goro Kirishima、 a foolish、 bumbling young man who is nonetheless kind-hearted and soft-hearted. Goro is actually a cyborg capable of transforming into Iron King、 a colossal hydro-powered warrior secretly planned and developed by Dr. Tsushima、 a genius scientist who is a member of the National Security Organization. When the two form a team、 the colossal robots of the Shiranui Clan land on Japan’s shores and begin their assault on its cities. Gentaro and Goro combine their strengths but are overwhelmed. Then、 Goro unleashes his powers as Iron King、 pushing the enemy robots back.Gentaro and Goro hit it off and stand up together to destroy the Shinarui Clan’s ambitions. They go on to defeat the Shiranui Clan with the help of various people. They later engage in intense battles with a new adversary、 the Phantom Twenty、 who belong to a revolutionary organization known as the Phantom Militia.Iron King is a tokusatsu hero series that was created by Senkosha、 which is famous for productions such as Moonlight Mask and The Samurai. It aired on the TBS network from October 1972 to April 1973. The screenplay was written by Mamoru Sasaki、 a leading screenwriter of Showa-era TV series. The two main characters were played by pop star Shoji Ishibashi and Nikkatsu star Mitsuo Hamada.
