SynopsisUchuu Keiji Gavan、 Space Sheriff Gavan Humans have expanded into space and a space colony has been built、 but it is attacked by the space crime organization Makuu. In order to counter the threat of Makuu、 who is planning to invade Earth、 Commander Qom of the Galactic Union Police dispatches Voicer、 a space sheriff、 but he goes missing. Commander Qom then dispatches Retsu Ichijoji、 the son of Voicer and a human mother、 as a space sheriff. Retsu cooperates with Mimi、 the only daughter of Commander Qom、 and the two come to Earth in pursuit of clues about the Makuu. In order to thwart the ambitions of the Makuu’s leader Don Horror while hiding his identity as a space sheriff、 Retsu transforms into the space sheriff Gavan in a shining silver combat suit and fights on the mechanical dragon Electronic Starbeast Dol to protect Earth from the monster army sent by Makuu. Sonny Chiba makes a special appearance as Gavan’s father in this series.Space Sheriff Gavan is the first tokusatsu superhero show in the Space Sheriff series、 one of the Metal Hero series produced by Toei and broadcast from March 1982 to February 1983 on the TV Asahi network. After the conclusion of the series、 Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger vs. Space Sheriff Gavan was released in 2012 as a collaboration with the Super Sentai series to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Space Sheriff series、 and in October of the same year、 Space Sheriff Gavan: The Movie was released with a new protagonist、 Geki Jumonji (played by Yuma Ishigaki). Together with Retsu Ichijoji、 the old and new Gavans appeared side by side、 and in 2014、 the NEXT GENERATION series was produced、 depicting a new generation of space sheriffs.
