| Synopsis | Kasai no Hito、 Family Court Judge Yoshio Kuwata、 a judge at the Iwasaki Family Court、 Harukawa Branch、 is the son of Kotaro Kuwata、 a Supreme Court judge、 and had outstanding grades during his legal apprenticeship. Although he was expected to work in the central government office、 he feels a strong desire to solve juvenile cases and rehabilitate the juveniles、 so he wishes to work in a regional office. He has a very warm personality. He also loves plants、 knows their ecology、 and grows many flowers in the courthouse garden. Although Kuwata’s family has their own problems、 the way he sincerely deals with the juvenile cases at the court and grows plants as if to overlay their rehabilitation has earned him the nickname “Kasai、” which is the same sound as the Japanese term for family court.Kasai no Hito is based on the manga—story by Jinpachi Mori and pictures by Osamu Uoto—that was serialized in Shogakukan Big Comic Original from 1988 to 1996. In the series、 Yosuke Saito co-stars as the conflicting judge、 and Nobuko Sendou and Toru Kazama as the investigators. As a TV drama、 it was broadcast from January to March 1993 on the Thursday 21 Time Slot Special on TBS、 with Tsurutaro Kataoka in the lead role. It was later broadcast on Wednesday Premiere on TBS in October 2004 with a completely original story、 starring Saburo Tokito in a new location at the Urushibara Family Court. In May 2020 and September 2021、 it was remade and broadcast on TV Asahi with Eiichiro Funakoshi、 who was a fan of the original series、 in the leading role. The quiet and sometimes stern figure of the protagonist、 Judge Yoshio Kuwata、 who handles juvenile cases、 is carefully portrayed as he approaches the emotions of the juveniles who committed the crimes、 and the original manga continued through a total of 15 volumes. |
