| Synopsis | Fukigen na Mononokean、 The Morose Mononokean In this universe、 there is the present world、 where humans live、 and the underworld、 where yokai (demons) live. Ordinary humans cannot see yokai、 nor can they enter the underworld. On the other hand、 yokai appear in the present world for various reasons and may stay without knowing about the underworld. Sending such yokai back to the underworld where they should be living is referred to as yokai-barai.Hanae Ashiya lives a normal student life、 never seeing any yokai until she graduates from junior high school. However、 just before the start of her high school life、 she suddenly begins to see and become possessed by a yokai called Moja、 a creature that looks like a white ball of fur with arms and legs. After entering high school、 she asks her classmate、 Haruitsuki Abeno、 the owner of the Mononokean、 to exorcise Moja、 which leads her to work for Abeno as an apprentice helping him perform yokai-barai.Various requests are brought to the Mononokean from humans and yokai、 and Abeno accepts these requests and performs yokai-barai. Ashiya gradually steps out of her normal life and into a special world. Along the way、 she becomes deeply involved with Zenko Fujiwara、 her fellow classmates、 and other humans、 and meets many yokai、 including Rippo、 one of the three powerful rulers of the underworld、 Yahiko、 a fox demon、 and Joumatsu、 a bird-like demon. |
