Onmitsu Kenshi Tsuppashire (Run Fast! The Samurai)During the era ruled by Tokugawa Hidetada, the second Tokugawa Shogun, Shintaro Matsudaira who was a grandson of Ieyasu Tokugawa grew up in a Zen temple from childhood through adolescence, living an ordinary life distanced from politics. One day, however, Shintaro is attacked by assassins from a mysterious ninja group. In this situation, he encounters Kayazaru, a runaway ninja from Iga, and together they embark on a journey to stop the ruthless policies of Honda Kozuke-no-suke, the man controlling the Tokugawa Shogunate from the shadows, for the realization of justice. After defeating the mastermind lurking behind the Shogunate, Shintaro hears rumors of large-scale kidnappings by a suspicious ascetic in Echigo Province. When arriving in the province to investigate, he confronts the Yami no Gyoja (Dark Ascetic) of the mysterious ninja group Kurayami Party (The Party of Darkness). Formidable ninjas, such as the Kuro no Shogun (Black Shogun) and Kaze no Majin (Wind Demon), stand in his way one after another. Joined by a young boy named Shingo, whose father was killed by the Kurayami Party, Shintaro sets out on a journey with Yakazaru once again.This work is a tokusatsu (special effects) period drama produced by the television film production company Senkosha Productions. It aired from December 1973 to March 1974 on the TBS network during the Takeda Hour programming slot. This series gained significant popularity as the sequel to Onmitsu Kenshi (The Samurai), another popular period drama that had aired from October to December 1973. The sequel featured guest appearances by popular idols of the era, such as Miyoko Asada and Yuki Okazaki. The scripts were written by Masaru Igami, who also wrote the scripts for Senkosha’s Yusei Oji (Planet Prince) and later worked on many scripts for the Showa Kamen Rider series. Igami contributed to many of the ideas adopted in this work.
