SynopsisOre wa Abare Hacchaku (I’m Abare Hacchaku)The protagonist、 Chotaro Sakurama、 also known as Abare Hatchaku, is a fifth grader at Mitama City First Elementary School and a locally famous bully. While he is hopeless with studying、 he is a mischievous boy who is good at sports、 fighting、 and playing pranks. However、 he also has a strong sense of justice、 thwarting cunning adults and helping weak children and sometimes even adults in need. He is often in trouble or is suspected、 which leads to a scolding from his father、 an old-fashioned carpenter、 with the customary line、 I’m so ashamed of your stupidity that it brings tears to my eyes! However、 despite being just a child、 he refuses to give in to powerful adults and uses his instinctive inspiration to get himself and others out of critical situations. This series incorporated various family and school issues of the time、 and the refreshing story in which Chotaro resolved problems won great popularity among not only children but also adults. This work is the first installment of the Abare Hatchaku television drama series aired on the TV Asahi network from 1979 to 1985. This first installment was broadcast from February 3、 1979、 to March 8、 1980. The scripts were written by Yuichiro Yamane、 Naoko Miyake、 and Shigemitsu Taguchi who worked on the entire Abare Hacchaku series. The first-generation Hatchaku was played by Yuki Yoshida、 whose acting skills were highly acclaimed and made him popular among viewers. He appeared multiple times in the later series playing the role of a reliable older brother、 and subsequently starred in Dennou Keisatsu Cybercop (Cybercop). The drama is originated from the children's literature series Abare Hatchaku written by Hisashi Yamanaka、 and remains faithful to the original setting.
