| Synopsis | Pro-wrestling Star AztecaserShun Takaba was a young pro-wrestler belonging to Toto Pro-Wrestling、 but he once officially announced his retirement due to the shock he got when his older brother、 Daijiro Takaba、 was murdered by Black Mist、 a sinister league of wrestlers led by the evil leader Lure、 who seeks to conquer the world of combat sports. Actually、 however、 he had been secretly undergoing grueling training behind the scenes with a strong desire to avenge his brother and defeat Black Mist.To aid Shun、 Dr. Hayami、 an authority on synthetic resins and a passionate wrestling fan、 gives him a special fighting suit he developed himself、 made of Aztec Resin. This suit holds the power of the Star of the Aztecs、 a secret treasure that passed down from the ancient Aztec Empire that flourished in the Mexican hinterlands. Putting on the suit、 Shun is reborn as the warrior of justice、 Aztecaser. To crush Black Mist's ambitions、 he throws himself into battle against the evil Cyborg Fighters、 including Satan Demon. This tokusatsu (special effects) TV series was broadcast on the NET (currently TV Asahi) network from October 1976 to March 1977 and produced by Tsuburaya Production、 but it is unique in that the climactic battle scenes were depicted in animation. The original story was co-created by the duo of Go Nagai、 famous for Mazinger Z、 and Ken Ishikawa、 the manga artist renowned for Getter Robo、 both of whom also created the manga version of this story. This series also raised public attention because it featured the full cooperation of New Japan Pro-Wrestling and the legendary pro-wrestler Antonio Inoki、 who would pass away in 2022 and who appeared as himself. |
