SynopsisFuku-chanThis program is an animation of a four-frame comic serialized for a long time in the Tokyo Asahi Shimbun newspaper from 1936 to 1971. The setting for the anime version was significantly changed from the original work. The story was set around 1982、 when the anime was broadcast. The main character、 Fuku-chan、 is a kindergartner、 and his father、 Taro Fukuyama、 and mother、 Hanako Fukuyama、 also appear. The story starts with a scene in 1982 in which Fukuichi Fukuyama、 or Fuku-chan、 has become a senior kindergartener、 and has left a life of riches、 at the whim of his stubborn and very rich grandfather、 to live as a typical middle class person. One day、 Fuku-chan goes to a barber for Shichi-go-san (an annual Japanese festival to celebrate the growth of children)、 but his head is shaved bald due to the barber’s carelessness. Fuku-chan becomes deeply gloomy and shuts himself in a barn、 where he finds a school cap his father regularly used in his childhood、 and his grandfather’s kimono、 and decides to wear them as his Shichi-go-san costume. Fuku-chan becomes quite fond of this combined outfit、 and starts to wear the school cap and kimono regularly as his own trademark. Fuku-chan lives his daily life with his family and friends、 with the involvement of his grandfather、 Fukutaro Fukuyama、 who likes new things and is always at the mercy of his grandchild、 and Kiyoshi、 a friend、 as well as Ganta、 a bully、 and Arakuma、 a relative and cartoonist. Some of the main characters in the work by the original author、 Ryuichi Yokoyama、 appear here as minor characters. Ken-chan、 appears as Edokko Ken-chan、 an older boy in the neighborhood、 and Densuke、 becomes the town policeman.
