SynopsisChokoreto Senso、 Chocolate warKinsendo is a famous pastry shop in town. It was established by Kinbei Tanigawa、 who still makes pastries as a patisserie. The Kinsendo show window is always decorated with a chocolate castle made from chocolate and wafers、 fascinating children who pass by. One day、 the show window glass is smashed right in front of the eyes of Koichi Hoshino、 who just happens to be passing by with an airsoft gun in his hand、 and his classmate Akira Fujimoto. The two boys are startled; seeing that Koichi has an airsoft gun、 Kinbei concludes that he must be the perpetrator. Instead of protesting against this false accusation、 Koichi develops a plan to steal the chocolate castle、 the pastry store’s symbol. The plan soon affects the local adults、 eventually materializing into a boycott of cakes.Chokoreto Senso is a children’s novel written by Makoto Oishi and published by Rironsha in 1965. The novel is a long-term best-seller、 printed even today more than 40 years after its first publication. A dramatized series was first released in 1965 in NHK’s Katei Gekijo. Later、 in March 1982、 another dramatized series was broadcast as part of the Hausu Kodomo Kessaku Shirizu on TV Asahi. The novel is not related to Chokoreto Senso––Asa ni Michi wo Kikaba Yube ni Shisutomo Kanari、 a drama series that aired in 2020. The TV Asahi series was filmed at the pastry shop Nakataya that is located in the neighborhood of Toei Movie Studios. The pastry shop in the novel was based on an actual shop in Nagano Prefecture.
