Eventually、 humanity establishes on Earth a comprehensive government called Terra. Extraterrestrials from diverse backgrounds come to take the entrance examination held once every three years. The protagonist、 Tadatos Lane (aka Tada)、 is from a Terra System planet. Dreaming of becoming a space pilot、 he advances to the final examination. For the final examination、 the 10 examinees must board a spaceship drifting along the orbit of a certain planet and live there together for 53 days. However、 it is not 10 but 11 who actually board the ship. Who is the 11th person? What is his or her purpose? Tada and his fellow examinees anxiously tackle the final examination. Then、 the drifting spaceship suddenly veers off course、 descending toward the sun. As crisis befalls those on board、 the dynamics among the 11 individuals change significantly.A film adaptation was released in November 1986.
