SynopsisHotman The protagonist Enzo Furiya is an art teacher and the son of the actress Yuriko Furiya. Enzo has four half-siblings、 each from his mother’s various relationships. He lives together with his four half-siblings、 along with his daughter Nanami、 whom he had back when he was a delinquent and whose mother is unknown. Enzo becomes health conscious as he looks after Nanami、 who suffers from atopic dermatitis. This unusual family faces situations that test their family bonds、 such as the half-siblings’ resistance to Enzo’s health-conscious practices、 the rifts between Nanami’s friends and their families that develop due to her atopic dermatitis、 and the family’s house catching fire. Each time they face a disaster、 Enzo discusses with his family to restore the family bond. Meanwhile、 Enzo is gradually attracted to one of his fellow teachers、 Misuzu Kaneko. The series portrays a success story that revolves around changes in life both in and outside the household.The TV series is based on the manga Hotman by Sho Kitagawa、 which was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump from issues 6 to 7 of 1997 to issue 30 of 2000. Starring Takashi Sorimachi、 Hotman aired on the TBS network from April 10 to June 19、 2003. It achieved the top audience rating among TV series broadcast during the same three-month period in the Kanto region. The series was written by Shogo Kashida、 who has served as the screenwriter for various other TV series、 as well as writing the lyrics of tracks such as EXILE’s Michi、 which became a hit graduation song. Nana Yamauchi、 who played Nanami Furiya、 won the Rookie Actor Award in the 37th Television Drama Academy Awards. Akiko Yada、 who played Yuriko Furiya、 won the Best Supporting Actress Award in the 13th TVLIFE Drama Awards .
