| Synopsis | Tensai Bakabon 2 (Genius Bakabon 2)A man had brilliance and extraordinary talent enough to be called an infant prodigy at birth. One day、 however、 after getting in an unforeseen terrible accident、 he began to have a peculiar sense. Years later、 he became the middle-aged man known as Bakabon’s Papa. Though he is the head of his household、 he has a bizarre personality that defies all common sense and logic、 often throwing everyone around him into various uproars. Mama-san、 Bakabon’s Papa’s dependable wife、 manages the household while being always confused by her husband、 the slow-tempo son Bakabon and his young brother Hajime-chan who possesses a genius-level intellect live their ordinary days in happiness. In this context、 bizarre events are caused by the unique characters、 including the Bakabon family members、 almost every day、 and all are eventually wrapped by Papa’s catchphrase、 Kore de ii noda (It'll be all right).”This is about the funny and humorous story of daily lives and family bonds woven by those eccentric people. This is the second live-action special drama of Tensai Bakabon (Genius Bakabon), which aired on January 6, 2017, as a special project for Nippon TV’s movie program Friday Road Show. The original story is based on the manga by Fujio Akatsuka, a master of gag manga renowned for big hits such as Osomatsu-kun (Young Osomatsu) and Himitsu no Akko-chan (The Secret of Akko-chan). This drama also garnered public attention for its casting: Shinya Ueda, member of the comedy duo Cream Stew, made his first starring role as Bakabon’s Papa in a drama, and the theme song was performed by Tamori, a multi-talented popular personality who is active as a TV host and others. |
