SynopsisTasogare Ryuuseigun、 Like Shooting Stars in the Twilight Tasogare Ryuuseigun is a collection of short stories about middle-aged men falling in love at a later age、 written by Kenshi Hirokane、 a manga artist known for his Kosaku Shima series. There is no specific protagonist、 but rather a series of short stories with at most nine episodes and at least one episode featuring a variety of men in their forties and beyond. The series was serialized in Shogakukan’s Big Comic Original and has been running since November 1955 (Issue 22) to the present. Because it is a collection of short stories、 it has been produced as drama for adults in various media and received the Excellence Award in the Manga Division of the 4th Japan Media Arts Festival in 2000. It was first dramatized on NHK-BS2 from August 31 to September 21、 1997、 as Like Shooting Stars in the Twilight—Love Again 、 based on the first week of the original story、 “Fuwaku no Hoshi.” The film starred Tsunehiko Watase as Yoshiharu Morimoto and Kanako Higuchi as his opposite and was rebroadcast again the following year on NHK General. This was followed by Like Shooting Stars in the Twilight—C-46 Nebula、 a special drama produced by Kansai Television and written based on the CHAGE and ASUKA song for Fuji Television、 with Masatoshi Nakamura、 Reiko Takashima、 and Sayaka Yamaguchi in the lead roles. This manga was later adapted into its first TV series from October to December 2018 on Fuji Television’s Thursday Theater. A total of ten episodes were produced and broadcast based on “Fuwaku no Hoshi, which was broadcasted on NHK in 1997. It was broadcast with Kuranosuke Sasaki and Miho Nakayama in the leading roles. Before that, a movie version of Hoshi no Restaurant was released in 2002, with Renji Ishibashi, Yuka Itaya, Masaki Kanda and Hideko Hara in the leading roles. The manga series is still ongoing and the 68th volume will be the latest installment in 2023.
