| Synopsis | Hoteru Nijikan Supesharu Kyujusannen Aki: Nesan Shinjiraremasen!、 HOTEL—2-Hour Hotel Special Fall ’93 Nesan Shinjiraremasen!A special version of the live-action drama based on the original story by Shotaro Ishinomori. Four seasons of one-hour series have been produced. Originally、 the story depicted the growth of young hotel employees at the fictional international hotel Tokyo Platon、 but this version focuses on the series of turmoil at the Platon in Nagasaki’s Huis Ten Bosch、 which unfolds between the hotel guests of a three-year wedding anniversary party and the young hotel staff、 including Ippei Akagawa (played by Masanobu Takashima)、 the protagonist of the drama、 who has been transferred to the hotel. Hiroki Matsukata、 who plays the general manager in the series、 and Tetsuro Tamba、 as the president、 appear in this special program and watch over the growth of the young hotel staff. In 1993、 TBS produced the entire series、 including the spring version as a special edition. Yoshi Yokota served as the chief writer、 but the script was written by Mieko Osanai、 who later took the country by storm with her work on 3-nen B-gumi Kinpachi Sensei (Mr. Kinpachi in Class 3B). The original story was serialized in Shogakukan’s Big Comic Original from 1984 to 1998 and won the 33rd Shogakukan Manga Award. One main difference from the TV series is that the protagonist in the manga is not the general manager、 but instead focuses on Ippei Akagawa、 who starts off as a bellboy and matures over time. The TV show is also famous for beginning with the opening line、 “Sister、 there’s been an incident” from Ippei Akagawa’s letter to his sister. The series was produced by TBS as an hour-long drama and broadcast from January 1990 to September 1995 on TBS、 and lasted for four seasons、 including several TV specials. The spring ‘93 edition was one of the TV specials. The long-lived series was produced until 2002、 including the TV specials. |
