SynopsisRoppongi Dandy Omiya-sanKanzaburo Torii、 a police officer and the head of the Records Division at Kusakabe Station、 is nicknamed Omiya-san by those around him because this nickname stems from his surname、 Torii (literally a gate of a shrine [Omiya] in Japanese)、 and he handles Omiya-iri (cold case) records. People around him think that Torii is a dull middle-aged man. Behind the scenes、 however、 he analyzes investigation files、 utilizing his exceptional memory and deductive powers to solve numerous complex cases. With no appetite for promotion、 he habitually lets his colleagues take the credit. In that context、 Torii receives a transfer order to the Records Division of the Roppongi Police Station. Even among the highly individualistic female detectives in the Roppongi Police Station、 Torii remains unchanged—he is immersed in investigative documents in a small room within the Second Criminal Investigation Division. He assists those female detectives from the shadows、 ensuring the credit for solving cases is given to the women. Only a few、 including Detective Otaki who also transferred from the Kusakabe Police Station to the Roppongi Police Station、 are aware of Torii’s true abilities and place immense trust in him. This series is the sequel to the first series、 Meikyuka Keiji Omiya-san (The Labyrinth Division’s Detective Omiya-san)、 and aired on the TV Asahi network from October 9 to December 25、 1987. The scripts were written by Kyohei Nakaoka、 who engaged in the creation of the Zatoichi films. In addition、 Ken Ogata、 who was active enough to have been selected for the lead role in the Taiga historical drama series Taikoki、 played the lead role again following the first series. The original work is a manga titled Kusakabe-sho Meikyuka Omiya-san (Labyrinth Division’s Omiya-san in the Kusakabe Station) created by Shotaro Ishinomori. It was serialized in the Big Comic published by Shogakukan from the October 10、 1981、 issue to the May 25、 1983、 issue. Additionally、 the series was also published as part of the Futaba Bunko Meisaku Series by Futaba-sha.
