SynopsisKenshui Nanako (Nanako on Training)Nanako Sugisaka has just become a medical intern and assigned to the frontline of clinical practice. She felt as if she was walking on air when Shunsuke Ogata、 a doctor she had long admired、 became her supervisory doctor. However、 her career as an intern gets off to a bad start as she makes error after error、 gets scoldings from the nurses and Ogata、 and is even pitied by her patients. Despite her numerous failures and Ogata’s harsh、 blunt guidance、 she devotes herself to steadily gaining the knowledge and experience necessary to be a doctor without losing heart. Seeing Nanako's tireless efforts、 the feelings of those around her、 including Ogata、 begin to change little by little. While carefully depicting Nanako's growth and the developing relationship with Ogata、 the work is filled with realism、 incorporating various episodes that actually occurred in real hospitals. This production is a television drama series that aired on the TV Asahi network in the Monday Drama In time slot from October 13、 1997、 to December 8、 1997. It consists of a total of nine episodes. Aiko Sato、 who played the lead role of Nanako Sugisaka、 prepared for her role by undergoing actual training at a hospital in Tokyo before the filming began. The original work is the manga of the same title、 Kenshui Nanako、 by Kozueko Morimoto、 which was serialized in Shueisha's YOU from the July 1995 issue to the 22nd issue of 1999. Because it was written based on research conducted at the hospital where the creator’s sister worked、 it contains many realistic scenes with details for a medical manga、 earning enormous acclaim even from medical professionals. 7 books in total were published for this manga、 which was a hit with sales exceeding 500、000 copies.
