| Synopsis | Sakura Taisen、 Sakura WarsThe story begins in Japan in 1923. Sakura Shinguji leaves her hometown Sendai for the imperial capital Tokyo、 a metropolis filled with the scent of spring and showering cherry blossom. In Tokyo、 she successfully joins the Imperial Combat Revue、 a secret security force responsible for maintaining peace in the capital.Sakura concurrently serves as an actor in the Imperial Opera Company’s Flower Troupe、 which is an all-female company of Imperial Theatre. When needed in battle、 Sakura protects the imperial capital under the command of General Ikki Yoneda and Deputy General Ayame Fujieda. Her team is led by Imperial Second Lieutenant Ichiro Ogami and consists of Sakura and five other beautiful women and girls who each have a distinct personality: Sumire Kanzaki、 Maria Tachibana、 Iris、 Kohran Li、 and Kanna Kirishima.Using their special powers、 or psychic abilities、 and equipped with their spiritual armor Kobu、 they risk their lives in the struggle against the Hive of Darkness、 a secret society that manipulates evil spirits and is led by Aoi Satan who intends to destroy the imperial capital.Sakura Wars is a television anime series created by Madhouse that first aired on TBS、 MBS、 and other networks in 2000.It is based on the first release of the Sakura Wars series、 a popular adventure video game series first launched in 1996 by SEGA.The series garnered a lot of attention for its original character designs that were developed by popular manga artist Kosuke Fujishima、 known for works such as You’re Under Arrest and Oh My Goddess!In 2019、 a new Sakura Wars video game set a decade later than the anime series was released for the first time in 14 years.
