| Synopsis | Ai Shoujo Porianna Monogatari、 PollyannaThe story is set in western America in the 1920s. Pollyanna is a cheerful and innocent girl who lost her mother and her father John、 who was a pastor、 when she was young. She is taken care of by her aunt and lives in a town called Beldingsville.Pollyanna opens up to those around her by spreading the idea of “seeking a good、” which is a game based on the words of her late father: “It’s a game where you try to find good things and remain cheerful no matter what happens to you.”Pollyanna is a kind-hearted child who brings smiles to those around her. But one day、 she has an unexpected accident、 which leads to her losing control of her legs and being no longer stand or walk.Thanks to the encouragement and effort of those around Pollyanna who want to help her、 she has an operation performed by a doctor from Boston called Ames. The operation is a success; Pollyanna undergoes physical therapy and begins to walk on her own two feet again.Pollyanna keeps bringing happiness to many people and is supported by them too. She finds her happiness on her own two feet、 never forgetting to live positively.Pollyanna is the 11th installment of the World Masterpiece Theater series and was developed by Nippon Animation in 1986.Although it is based on the novels Pollyanna and Pollyanna Grows Up by the American novelist Eleanor Hodgman Porter、 the latter part of the series includes many original elements. |
