SynopsisSupa Zugan、 Super ZuganHideyuki Toyotomi is a 20-year-old man who works part time at the mahjong club Ichibankan. He is so unlucky that “Tsukan [out of luck]” is his habitual phrase. He has been picked on by members of a bad group、 namely Shintaro Oda、 Koichi Akechi、 and Yasube Tokugawa、 ever since high school、 and is regularly thoroughly beaten by them in mahjong. One day、 Hideyuki bumps into one of his classmates from high school、 Akina Hayami; she sees Hideyuki in his spiritless state. Back in high school、 Akina used to have a crush on Hideyoshi、 who always was the smartest boy in school、 so she begs him to stop playing mahjong. After his encounter with Akina、 Hideyuki decides to quit mahjong. However、 he is unable to defeat Shintaro and the others in a challenge match to cut ties with the bad group.Akina gets fed up with Hideyuki、 who failed to quit mahjong. However、 unable to give up on him、 Akina begins studying mahjong herself to confront Shintaro and the others on behalf of the unlucky Hideyuki. Later、 it turns out that Akina is a phenomenally lucky person、 so she herself gets obsessed with mahjong. All of them begin playing the game together after that. The subsequent part of the series revolves around a comical everyday life centered around mahjong、 made up of stand-alone episodes in which Hideyuki would play and comically lose in various mahjong settings.Super Zugan is a gag anime series based on a manga by Masayuki Katayama that was serialized in Takeshobo’s manga magazine Kindai Mahjong Original. It was an unusual anime series that was broadcast late at night.
