SynopsisGAD GUARDThe story is set several centuries in the future、 in a city called Unit Blue on earth. There is a district in the city known as Night Town—at night the electricity is shut off and the place is covered in darkness.Hajiki Sanada is a high school student who works as a part-time delivery boy in Unit Blue. One day during a delivery、 he accidentally touches a mysterious substance known as a GAD、 which is worth a lot of money. The GAD immediately absorbs the matter around it and transforms into a technode (a huge humanoid robot) named Lightning. This event changes Hajiki’s life completely. After contact with this mysterious substance、 Hajiki meets children with the same kind of powers in Unit Blue: Katana 、 who uses the power of the technode Zero for destruction、 Aiko、 a girl who is looking for friends together with the technode Messerschmitt、 and Takumi、 a champion of justice who works with the technode Thunderbolt. Each of the children、 along with their technode、 joins the fight for justice in their own way.Hajiki、 together with Lighting、 tries to reveal the secrets behind this mysterious event in order to find out the real reason why he and the others were chosen by the technodes. Gad Guard was first aired as an animation series in 2003. It was a joint production by Gonzo and Amber Film Works、 based on the story of Sparks Renewal、 a manga by Yoshitsune Izuna. The science fiction robot theme combined with an ensemble cast of young characters made it a popular series.
