SynopsisHeisei Tensai BakabonBakabon’s Papa was widely recognized as a genius from the moment he was born. However、 his personality changes dramatically due to an accident; he is no longer bound by common sense or generally accepted ethical values. His behavior changes too. He begins talking like a child、 saying things like “Konyanyachiwa” (instead of “Konnichiwa、” meaning hello) and making his words unnecessarily difficult to understand、 as well as frequently using the phrase、 “Kore de ii noda (It’ll be all right)、” which becomes his main catchphrase.Heisei Tensai Bakabon is the third Tensai Bakabon series. The story is set where Bakabon’s Papa has already had the accident、 become unemployed、 and become a husband as well as a father of two kids. Bakabon’s Papa and his oldest son Bakabon idly walk around town causing various incidents that affect those around them、 including his wife Bakabon’s Mama、 his second son Hajime、 Rerere no Oji-san who lives in the same town、 and Honkan-san. The subsequent story revolves around Bakabon’s Papa’s nonsensical gags、 including dark humor and ironical jokes that incorporate topics that were current during the so-called bubble economy when the series was broadcast、 making it a comedy anime series for younger children. The series began airing on January 6、 1990 with 46 scheduled episodes. As this series and the show immediately before it、 Osomatsu-kun、 were both based on manga by Fujio Akatsuka、 and both series were created by Studio Piero、 a special episode starring characters from both series was created.
