SynopsisAnmitsu Hime、 Princess Anmitsu Anmistu is a pretty and kind-hearted princess that lives in Amakara Castle. She is also a tomboy and full of curiosity. She frequently visits the castle town and behaves in a rather irresponsible manner、 causing a lot of trouble to those around her.Princess Anmitsu interacts with many interesting characters、 including her American tutor Ms. Castella、 the meddling chief retainer Hikozaemon Abekawa、 and Gen’ai Hiraga、 a genius inventor living in the castle town. And her life is full of excitement: visitors from space、 lake monsters、 and numerous other mysterious events. In the final episode、 she gets married with Ryunosuke、 the young lord of Mitonatto Province、 and the couple live in Anmitsu Province together happily.Based on the manga by Shosuke Kurakane、 Anmitsu Hime was aired from 1986 to 1987 (51 episodes in total). The anime adaptation features some characters that do not appear in the original manga、 such as Hikozaemon Abekawa and Gen’ai Hiraga. The series is made up of standalone episodes. Though the story is based on a jidaigeki (period piece) worldview、 the series also features modern tools and sentiment、 giving it a unique、 unrestricted style. The series garnered much attention、 partly due to the fact that Onyanko Club—a popular pop idol group at the time—sang the opening and ending themes、 and it was adapted into a video game and TV series. Princess Anmitsu was so well known that Kansai Electrical Power used it in a TV commercial aired from 1986 to 1987.
