| Synopsis | Mezon Ikkoku、 Maison IkkokuYusaku Godai is a 20-year-old studying for college exam and living in Ikkoku-kan、 a very old wooden apartment building built in the Taisho era in a town called Tokeizaka. One day、 a beautiful woman named Kyoko Otonashi comes to Ikkoku-kan as the new manager of the building、 and Yusuke instantly falls in love with her.However、 Yusuke learns that Kyoko is a widow and still cannot forget her late husband Soichiro、 so he is not sure what he should do.Kyoko is aware of Yusuke’s feelings for her too but cannot forget Soichiro、 so she tries to keep a certain distance from him to avoid being approached.Ikkoku-kan is home to numerous strange and eccentric people、 and Yusuke and Kyoko gradually get to know and grow fond of each other in their hectic everyday life with those residents.The two maintain a certain distance for a long time、 but once they confirm their love for each other and are able to put their respective feelings for Soichiro behind、 they get married.The married couple decide to stay in Ikkoku-kan、 the place where they first met.Maison Ikkoku is an anime series produced by Studio Deen that ran on Fuji TV from 1986 to 1988.It is based on the coming-of-age manga by Rumiko Takahashi––known for many popular works such as Inuyasha and Rin-ne––serialized in Big Comic Spirits from 1980 to 1987. |
