SynopsisMaboroshi Mabo-chanA bullied boy living in Nodoka Village named Mabota Maboroshi is called by the nickname “Mabo-chan.”One day、 Mabo-chan’s parents eat a snake apple infected with petrifying virus and turn into stones.Mabo-chan searches for a way to save his parents and meets Nizaemon、 his ancestor who has been asleep for 300 years using a hypersleep freezer capsule called the Bunkai Tomin Inro.Under the instruction of Nizaemon who used to be a town doctor in the Edo period、 Mabo-chan and his little sister Mumuko head to Jitanfa、 a country in another dimension、 to find a way to cure his parents. Mabo-chan finds out that his parents can be cured by finding the dolls of the 12 Zodiac animals. But he is confronted by gangsters trying to steal the dolls and other various obstacles.Mabo-chan overcomes many difficulties using his natural kindness、 quick thinking、 wit、 and archery skills he acquired through training at his club. By using Nizaemon’s inventions and with the help of Mumuko and the people of Jitanfa、 he succeeds in gathering all the 12 Zodiac animal dolls and cures his parents’ petrifaction. The original work is a manga created by Katsushi Katsukawa . However、 since the original manga had only four episodes、 many episodes different from the original manga were created when it was adapted into anime、 using or reworking episodes from other works of Katsushi Katsukawa and creating new characters that do not appear in the original manga.
