SynopsisSaibogu 009 (Cyborg 009)A remarkably talented cartoonist、 Shotaro Ishinomori、 started to publish the series in Shonen Sunday in the 1960s、 and gained popularity. Later、 a movie version (monochrome) produced by Toei Doga was cinematized. The story starts when Jo Shimamura escapes from a juvenile detention center、 and is converted into a cyborg after being caught by the Black Ghost Group which conspires to dominate the world. All cyborgs converted by the Black Ghost Group are called “Number 00”、 and there are nine of them including Jo; they are selected from various countries and races and are individually given different abilities. Since knowing they have been converted into cyborgs for the purpose of dominating the world they feel resistant to being treated as weapons、 so they run away from the Black Ghost Group with Dr. Gilmore as a leader、 and decide to stop their domination of the world. The story about cyborg warriors numbered 00 continuing to fight with the Black Ghost Group while anguishing over whether they are machines or humans appealed to young people and was later serialized for TV、 and many remakes have been made. Before concluding the story the original author Shotaro Ishinomori died、 so the story is still cinematized or novelized as an incomplete masterpiece in a way that fits each era. It has been repeatedly produced by various media to the present date. This work will always and surely be remade at turning points in the world in a new form in the future.
