SynopsisManga Kodomo BunkoManga Kodomo Bunko (Manga Children’s Library) is a TV animation series consisting of 15-minute episodes based on works of children’s literature published in the Taisho and Showa era.The first episode、 Kitsune (Fox ) (author: Nankichi Niimi)、 is a story where a little boy Bunroku、 whose father runs a barrel shop、 goes to a festival in a nearby town with some other children from his village. Bunroku buys a pair of new clogs on the way. The old woman running the clog shop warns him: “Those who wears new clogs at for the first at night will be possessed by a fox.” Later、 the children watch a fox dance at the festival and、 recalling the old woman’s warning、 run back to their village in fear. Bunroku is left behind and hallucinates that he has changed into a fox.Later、 when Bunroku gets back home、 he asks his mother、 “What would you do if I became a fox?” His mother replies: “Then I’ll become a fox too.” Hearing that Bunroku is still worried and upset、 she continues to tell him that she will protect him with her life and that she loves him dearly until he eventually feels safe.Featuring many works of children’s literature that were later used in textbooks、 including Kitsune、 Akai Kutsu (Red Shoes)、 and Hiroshima no Uta (Song of Hiroshima)、 the series was broadcast on TV from October 6、 1978 to September 28、 1979 for a family audience.Manga Kodomo Bunko includes several Santa Monogatari (Story of Santa) (author: Shigeru Aoki) episodes. Group TAC、 known for Manga Nippon Mukashibanashi (Manga Japanese folk tales)、 led the production of the series. The series has never been rerun.
