SynopsisDoraemonNobita Nobi、 a fifth grade elementary school boy、 is not good at sports or study、 and he is also lazy. One day、 a drawer in Nobita’s study desk connects to a time-machine from the future、 and Nobita’s great-grandchild、 Sewashi、 appears. Sewashi explains that Nobita will experience a series of misfortunes in the future、 and that a huge debt will be left to Nobita’s descendants because he bankrupts a company. Sewashi leaves a 22nd century (21st century in early serializations) cat-type robot called Doraemon. Doraemon takes various secret gadgets from his four-dimensional pocket with which he helps Nobita、 and he also strengthens the family bond. The basic story is that when something troublesome happens to Nobita when he is with his family or hanging out with his friends、 Nobita immediately asks Doraemon to take a secret gadget from his tummy’s four-dimensional pocket、 such as the Anywhere Door、 through which one can go anywhere、 and the Bamboo-copter、 with which a person can fly、 and he tries to solve these problems with these small gadgets、 which a child would want to have. Later、 Nobita begins to depend on these secret gadgets and sometimes even tries to exploit them、 which leads to him repeating painful mistakes、 but he is urged by Doraemon to reflect upon his misconducts. The story is mainly comedic but also contains educational elements. This program had a new start in 2005 with different voice actors and production staff. Adults brought up with Doraemon now go to movie theaters、 and the phenomenon of a theme song created for a movie becoming a hit in the charts has started. Doraemon is known as a world-class anime from Japan.
