He gains permission to join Chiba Swordsmanship School、 whose founder Shusaku Chiba is an old friend of Suzunosuke’s father—who is himself a master swordsman—and a famous swordsman in Edo known for his Hokushin Itto-ryu style. Suzunosuke trains as Shusaku’s disciple、 refining both his skills and physical and mental strengths.Shusaku’s daughter Sayuri watches Suzunosuke train with loving eyes.Shortly after joining Chiba Swordsmanship School、 Suzunosuke confronts a group of mysterious villains known as the Kimen Gang who terrorize Edo and plan to overthrow the shogunate.Suzunosuke、 the senior disciple Rainoshin Tatsumaki、 and the other members of Chiba Swordsmanship School stand up to save the country. Suzunosuke improves his skills through many fights and matures as a person. The deadly struggle against members of the Kimen Gang continues. Through intensive training、 Suzunosuke develops a special technique known as “Shinku-giri.” Using this special technique、 Suzunosuke defeats numerous members of the Kimen Gang、 including its leader Seidoki、 and brings peace to Edo.The original manga by Eiichi Fukui was serialized in Shonen Gaho in 1954. Later、 however、 Tsunayoshi Takeuchi took over、 and the work became a popular radio drama series. Sayuri Yoshinaga played the major female protagonist Sayuri Chiba in the radio drama series. A live-action version and movie were later created、 and an animation remake was created in 1972. The theme song remained almost unchanged from the earlier radio drama series、 with only some minor changes made to the lyrics. It was rare for the theme song to remain the same for several decades. |
