Synopsis
Gonen Sankumi Maho Gumi, Homeroom 5-3: Magic ClassMosuke Iwadate (Ganmo), Masaki Munakata (Hatenaman), Rinichi Takeda (Chikuwa), Asako Kohara (Shosuke), and Mitsuko Tashiro (Miko) are good friends who belong to 5th grade, class 3 at Higashimachi Elementary School. One day, a can that Asako (Shosuke) randomly kicks happens to hit a woman’s head, causing her an injury. Shosuke gives the woman first aid treatment at her house. When leaving the house, the woman forgets a large bag there. The five kids go after her to return the bag; they find her riding a broomstick. The woman, who calls herself Belbara the Witch, leaves the bag with them as a gift for their treatment. The bag is called the MJ Bag, and it contains seven mysterious magical tools. The charm to use the magical tools is, “Abakuratariran Kurakuramakashin.” The kids lead a strange life, using the magical tools to help their family and school friends and, on occasion, dealing with the pranks that Belbara plays on them. Belbara likes to tease the five kids for enjoyment from time to time, but she is very fond of them and protects them with her life in critical situations.Homeroom 5-3: Magic Class is not a superhero series but a fantasy tokusatsu series that aired from December 6, 1976 to October 3, 1977. It gained great popularity among children. So much so that children of the viewer age group who got into a homeroom class 5-3 in their 5th grade would be envied by others at school. Machiko Soga was said to be very well suited for the role of Belbara the Witch, and she later played villains in many Power Rangers series.
