Synopsis
Soreike Zukkoke Sanningumi (Let’s Go, the Funny Trio)There was a trio of sixth-grade boys attending an elementary school in Hanayama Town, Midori City, Inaho Prefecture, in the Chugoku region. The first member is Ryohei Hachiya, nicknamed Hachibe. He is the eldest son of Hachiya Shoten, a greengrocer in the shopping district; he loves pranks and is quick to fight, but he has a strong sense of justice. The second member is Shotaro Yamanaka, nicknamed Hakase (Professor). He is the eldest son of a salaried worker’s family living in the Hanayama Municipal Apartments; while he is clearheaded and very studious about everything, he has a tendency to overthink things. The final member is Sankichi Okuda, nicknamed Mo-chan. He is a large, easygoing boy who is the youngest child in his family and lives with his mother and older sister in a different building of the same apartment complex. The trio happened upon a series of arson fires in their city and encountered a man acting suspiciously. As the man had been spotted at the fire scenes multiple times, they began investigating the cases. This led to putting their noses into various troubles and incidents. Fueled by their extraordinary energy and curiosity, they turned minor daily events into a series of astonishing adventures. This work was originated from a children's literature series written by novelist Masamoto Nasu and published by Poplar Publishing from 1978 to 2004. As a novel series for children, it boasted great popularity particularly among elementary and junior high school students. Before the anime series adaptation, its first media appearance was an one-off drama in the House Kodomo Meisaku Gekijo slot in 1982. Subsequently, it enjoyed long-standing popularity among children across various media. While the novel series began with the trio in elementary school, it continued until 2005, eventually depicting them as adults.
