Synopsis

Funassyi Tantei (Detective Funassyi)Funassyi, the so-called yuru-chara mascot known by everyone in Japan, has another face besides amusing children: that of a detective. One day, threatening letters regarding a series of bombings are delivered across Tokyo. The criminal was the Jigoku no Snoman (Snowman from Hell), a bomber who had vanished 30 years ago.While Funassyi had been expanding its activities in various fields at the time, these incidents prompt it to resume its detective work. A buddy of Funassyi is Heisuke Hiratsuka, a detective of the Shiba Rinkai Police Station. He is the son of the legendary detective Heihachiro Hiratsuka, and he asks for Funassyi's help in order to arrest the Snowman, the only criminal his father ever failed to catch. So, Funassyi accesses the FNS (Funassyi Network System), its own unique information network. Together with Detective Hiratsuka, it embarks on an investigation of the incidents to defuse bombs planted in various locations and arrest the Snowman. Thus begins the eccentric duo's strange and comical journey. This program is a special one-off drama that aired on the Fuji TV network in January 2016. The protagonist is Funassyi, a pear fairy and unofficial mascot of Chiba Prefecture. After appearing in many variety shows, Funassyi played its first starring role in this drama. The drama also gained significant attention for casting Kazuya Kojima, a popular comedian and actor, as Funassyi's buddy Detective Heisuke Hiratsuka. The script was written by Yosuke Masaike, a broadcast writer who won many awards, including the Japan Commercial Broadcasters Association Award.
