Synopsis

Shin-Oishinbo Part 3: Yuzan Kaibara VS Kyukyoku Seven Samurai (New Oishinbo Part 3: Yuzan Kaibara VS Seven Ultimate Samurai)To commemorate the 100th anniversary of its establishment, the newspaper Tozai Shimbun announced a new project for creating the Ultimate Menu. A culinary taste test was conducted within the company, and new employee Yuko Kurita successfully answered every question correctly. Another male employee, Shiro Yamaoka, also answered perfectly, which caused a stir among those around him. Consequently, he was selected together with Yuko Kurita as project coordinators. This duo begins traveling to various locations in search of the Ultimate Menu. Throughout their journey, Shiro demonstrates his keen sense of taste, extensive and wide-ranging knowledge, and superior cooking skills, performing various feats with Yuko. Meanwhile, a harsh past involving Shiro's father, Yuzan Kaibara, who is a gourmet presiding over the Gourmet Club, is revealed. Later, the rival newspaper Teito Shimbun launches a project called the Supreme Menu headed by Yuzan, leading to a series of culinary battles between the two parties. After many battles, Shiro, who has been reassigned to the employee cafeteria, is challenged to another culinary showdown with Yuzan once again, and a battle between the Ultimate and the Supreme restarts. This work is the final media adaptation following the television anime and live-action-drama series. This is a special one-off drama based on the series that aired on the Fuji TV network from January 2007 to November 2009. The original work is a manga series that has been serialized since 1983 in Shogakukan's manga magazine Big Comic Spirits, created by the team of writer Tetsu Kariya and artist Akira Hanasaki. The protagonist, Shiro Yamaoka, is played by Masahiro Matsuoka of Tokio, and Yuzan Kaibara is played by the singer and actor Ken Matsudaira.
