Synopsis

Shin Kaze no Rondo (The New Rondo of Wind)Tatsukichi Noshiro, the founder of Noshiro Construction, built a vast fortune and eventually became the father of three sons. During the Pacific War, Tatsukichi's second son, Koji Noshiro, had promised to marry his lover, Maki Arisawa; however, they were torn apart because Koji received his induction notice. After the war, as Maki waited for Koji's return, Tatsukichi's third son, Daisuke, approached her and began looking after her in various ways. Daisuke had long fallen into illicit love for Maki, and conspired with Asami, who was the widow of the eldest son, to tear Maki and Koji apart. Falling for their schemes, Maki married Daisuke, while Koji married Asami by Tatsukichi's order, and both couples had children. Despite their tragic separation, Maki and Koji fell into an extramarital affair over time and died together in a fire. Time passes, and Maki's eldest daughter, Natsuo Noshiro, reaches out to Hideaki, the son of Asami and Koji, eventually falling into an illicit affair like her mother. This work is a remake version of the television drama Kaze no Rondo, which aired in 1995, and was broadcast on the Fuji TV network from January 5 to March 31, 2006. It consists of 62 episodes in total. Being a remake, the staff and cast were entirely replaced. Maju Ozawa, who played the dual roles of Maki Noshiro and Natsuo Noshiro, drew significant attention for playing a courageous heroine—a complete reversal from the bully role she played in the 2004 daytime drama Botan to Bara (Peony and Rose). The original work is the shojo manga Kaze no Rondo by Mutsumi Tsugumo, which was serialized in Shueisha's YOU, depicting the tragic love affairs spanning two generations of mother and daughter.
