Zukkoke Sanningumi 2 (The Funny Torio 2)This story follows a trio of sixth-grade boys attending an elementary school in Hanayama Town, Midori City, Inaho Prefecture, located in the Chugoku region. The first member is Ryohei Hachiya, nicknamed Hachibe. He is the eldest son of a greengrocer called Hachiya Shoten in a shopping district. He loves pranks and is quick to fight but has a strong sense of justice. The second member is Shotaro Yamanaka, nicknamed Hakase (Professor). He is the eldest son of a salaried worker’s family living in the Hanayama Municipal Apartments; while he is clearheaded and very studious about everything, he has a tendency to overthink things. The final member is Sankichi Okuda, nicknamed Mo-chan. He is the youngest child who has a large build, an easygoing personality, and lives with his mother and older sister in a different building of the same apartment complex. These three often find themselves caught up in various troubles. As they discover what they should do and what they want to do, they spend their days in various ways as elementary school students, involving their school and the townspeople. In this context, through mysterious adventures and encounters with a diverse range of people, they continue to grow day by day, enjoying a pleasant school life filled with excitement and joy.This work was part of the children’s drama series Drama Ai no Uta (Drama: Poem of Love) aired on NHK General TV from 1991 to 2005. It was the second series broadcast six months later following the first series. The original source material is a children’s literature series by the children’s author Masamoto Nasu, published by Poplar Publishing between 1978 and 2004. Later, a crossover special drama titled Zukkoke Sanningumi vs. Futago Tantei: Hikari no Sekai e Tobe (The Funny Trio vs The Twin Detectives: Fly to the World of Light), featuring the program Futago Tantei (Twin Detectives), which had begun airing in July 1999, was broadcast on January 1, 2001, and attracted significant public attention.
