Synopsis

Shin Zukkoke Sanningumi (The New Funny Torio)There was a trio of sixth-grade boys attending an elementary school in Hanayama-cho, Midori City, located in the Kansai region. The first member is Ryohei Hachiya, nicknamed Hachibei. He is the eldest son of a greengrocer called Hachiya Shoten in a shopping district. He loves pranks and is quick to fight but has a strong sense of justice. The second member is Shotaro Yamanaka, nicknamed Hakase (Professor). He is the eldest son of a salaried worker’s family living in a municipal apartment complex; while he is clearheaded and very studious about everything, he has a tendency to overthink things. The third member is Sankichi Okuda, nicknamed Mo-chan. He is the youngest child who has a large build, an easygoing personality, and lives with his mother and older sister in a different building of the same apartment complex. While they are often clumsy and scatterbrained, they race through their hometown with their natural curiosity and teamwork that draws on their individual personalities. As they encounter various people and experience many fantastic adventures, including confrontations against their rivals, in other words, a trio of beautiful girls called Angel 3, they continue to grow day by day with excitement.This work is a children's program produced by NHK Osaka, which aired from April to June 2002 in the Drama Ai no Uta (Drama: Poem of Love) slot of the NHK Educational TV network. For this series, the setting was moved to Kansai and the cast was completely renewed, resulting in an independent story entirely different from the previous series. It also drew significant attention because Erika Toda, now a famous actress, played the trio’s classmate Yumiko Enomoto during her child-actress days, and actor Hiroshi Fujioka played the role of Detective Otowa, whom the trio encounters.
