Synopsis
CalimeroCalimero is a small black chick who always wears an eggshell on his head. His dream is to fly through the sky just like other birds, and he strives to realize this dream through constant trial and error. Calimero is not only a hard worker but actually smart intellectually. As a good leader for everyone, he uses his ingenuity, as well as all kinds of inventions, to solve problems and play an active role in various situations. And today, Calimero continues his journey of small challenges and various adventures together with his friends, including his kind and energetic girlfriend Priscilla, the ever cheerful and dependable Giuliano, and the selfish and stubborn Peter. The original work was created in 1963 by Italian cartoonist brothers Nino and Toni Pagot, along with the cartoonist Carlo Peroni. The animated image of Calimero first appeared as a mascot character for the detergent company Reckitt Benckiser. After the commercials gained popularity in Italy, the mascot character was adapted into a short animation program. The first anime series aired from October 1974 to September 1975 on the NET network (now TV Asahi), produced by K&S and Toei Animation. Notably, the composition of this series was handled by Taichi Yamada, a great master in the scriptwriting world. The second series aired on the TV Tokyo network from October 1992 to December 1993. In 2013, the new CG-animated version was produced for the first time in Italy. After broadcasting in Italy and France, this new version aired also in Japan on the TV Tokyo network from October 2014 to September 2016.
