Synopsis

Ichiban Ushiro no Daimao, Demon King DaimaoThe year is 3000 CE in a world where magic has become a normal thing. A great war erupted between humanity and the Demon King a century ago; even though many lost their lives, humanity managed to win the war. Over time, peace is gradually restored to the torn world. However, one day, a witch leaves a newborn baby in a town’s church and disappears.A decade later, the baby who was taken in by the church has grown up to be a gentle boy named Akuto Sai, who constantly advocates for equality and benevolence. Eventually, he leaves his orphanage and enters the high school division of the Constant Magic Academy, adhering to the motto, “Be modest and don’t trouble others.” He takes an aptitude test when joining the academy. The results say that a suitable future occupation would be a “Demon King” who leads the world to destruction. This totally unexpected incident draws everyone’s negative attention to Akuto at school.Akuto befriends Hiroshi Miwa, a classmate who has been evaluated a “Hero” in the aptitude test, and the rather goofy and mysterious girl Kena Soga, among others. Akuto solemnly swears to escape his destiny of becoming a Demon King, but he is troubled by the many incidents that somehow keep occurring around him.Demon King Daimao is a television anime series created by Artland. It aired on AT-X, TOKYO MX, and other networks in 2010.It is based on a school fantasy light novel written by novelist Shotaro Mizuki and illustrated by manga artist Souichi Ito. The novel was published under Hobby Japan’s HJ Bunko imprint from 2008 to 2014.
