Synopsis
Meimon! Daisan Yakyuubu, Top School! The Third Baseball TeamAsunaro Hinoki is in his first year at high school. Although his classmates call him slow, he is always passionate about baseball. But since Sakura High School is a prestigious school that regularly plays in the National High School Baseball Championship, its baseball club is divided into three teams of different rank. Asunaro manages to join the third team, which is the lowest. Its members rarely get the chance to play in games or practice, and are made to do errands for the higher ranking teams. One day, the manager of the third team, Kito, orders that the team be disbanded in a month’s time. Members of the third team protest against the manager’s decision; they are permitted to continue playing baseball if they are able to beat the first team. The third team does not have enough members to play against the first team. Asunaro persuades his childhood sweetheart Yuko Murashita, who used to be in the first team, and Takeshi Kaido, who is also a former first team member but on the brink of quitting due to falling out with the manager, to join the team, thereby managing to gather nine members.Their game with the first team is almost called off in the top of the first inning, but the third team manages to pull through thanks to Yuko’s encouragement, Asunaro’s hit, and Takeshi’s homerun. Even though the third team is beaten in the end, Manager Kito notices Asunaro’s great potential, as well as seeing the students’ passion from their cheering. To give the third team another chance, Kito retracts his decision to disband the team and arranges for another game with the first team.Former first team member Tetsuya Sakurai joins in the second game, and the third team is victorious. The third team is promoted to the first team and recruits the star player from the former first team. The new first team works hard toward winning in the National High School Baseball Championship.Top School! The Third Baseball Team is based on a manga by Toshiyuki Mutsu that was serialized in Shonen Magazine.
