Synopsis
Wakakusa Monogatari Nan to Jo Sensei, Little Women II: Jo’s BoysThe story begins with the grown up Annie “Nan” Harding visiting an school called Plumfield located in the suburbs of Concord, Massachusetts and looking back on her childhood memories. Plumfield is a boarding school run by Jo Bhaer and her husband Mr. Bhaer.Annie is 11 years old. She is called Nan and is a tomboy. Jo likes Nan because she reminds her of herself when she was little. However, being a tomboy, Nan constantly causes trouble at school: climbing over a fence she should not to collect strawberries, making racket when she should be in bed, etc. It is not only Nan that causes trouble. Others admitted to the school are responsible too. They include the young boys Tommy Bangs and Jack Ford, as well as Daniel “Dan” Kean who used to be a bad kid. Despite this behavior, Jo dedicates herself to guiding her pupils. Sometimes she scolds them, while other times she admonishes them to be responsible.Eventually, Nan decides to become a doctor after John Brooke dies of a heart attack. Not only Nan but also the other children each find their dream. Dan, now a new boy, graduates before the others and sets off to Brazil.Little Women II: Jo’s Boys is a sequel to Tales of Little Women in the World Masterpiece Theater. Jo is the second daughter of the March family who appears in Tales of Little Women.
