Osomatsu-kunMatsuzo Matsuno, a regular company worker, and his wife Matsuyo Matsuno have sextuplet sons: Osomatsu, Karamatsu, Choromatsu, Ichimatsu, Jushimatsu, and Todomatsu. The mischievous boys each have a distinguishing personality, involving people in the neighborhood in their hectic everyday life.Characters living in the neighborhood include Iyami, a man with buckteeth who claims to have lived abroad, Hatabo, who has a strange way of talking, Dekapan, a middle-aged man who only wears striped underpants, and Chibita, the rival of the sextuplets who likes oden soup. The Matsuno sextuplets and Chibita have developed an intense rivalry over Totoko, a pretty girl whom Osomatsu and the others have a crush on. Osomatsu and his brothers lead a wild life filled with fun and laughter along with those around them.An anime television series jointly developed by Children’s Corner and Studio Zero, Osomatsu-kun aired on the Fuji TV network from 1966 to 1967.It is based on a gag manga series by Fujio Akatsuka, a popular manga artist known for works such as Tensai Bakabon and Himitsu no Akko-chan, which was serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday from 1962 to 1969.Due to the series’ lasting popularity, it has been adapted into sequels, films, and various other media. For example, a new anime series called Mr. Osomatsu was released in 2015, which revolves around the sextuplets as adults. The series remains popular among many fans to this day.
