She is an audacious and high-handed kind of girl, but the sound of her violin penetrates the soul. Even through Kaori pushes Kosei around, he gradually grows attracted to her. However, once Kosei finds out that Kaori is in love with his friend Ryota Watari, he begins to distance himself from her.Whether knowing Kosei’s feelings or not, Kaori designates Kosei as her accompanist in a contest. This serves as an opportunity for Kosei to overcome the trauma of losing his mother; he takes up music again. One day, however, Kaori falls ill.Kaori’s condition becomes worse and worse. This reminds Kosei of his late mother, causing him great mental pain. But Kosei decides to perform in a piano concert. In the concert, he plays the piano for his mother, Kaori, and all those who brought him music, and gets a huge round of applause.Kaori passes away during the concert. After Kaori’s death, Kosei receives a letter of hers from her parents. In the letter, Kaori writes that she said that she loved Watari because she knew her death was near, and that her true feelings lie with Kosei.Your Lie in April is based on a manga by Naoshi Arakawa that was serialized in Monthly Shonen Magazine from 2011 to 2015.
