SynopsisNanako SOSSelf-styled genius scientist Eiichiro Yotsuya is using his classmate and would-be manga artist Ha-kase Iidabashi as a guinea pig to conduct an experiment to create a person with supernatural pow-ers. Then、 a girl called Nanako suddenly comes falling down from the sky.Nanako has lost her memory、 but she is able to become Supergirl thanks to her supernatural pow-ers.Yotsuya founds the Yorozu Company for the purpose of making money from these supernatural powers and using the wealth he acquires to conquer the world. He tricks the innocent、 brave Nanako to make her a member of the company.Although Iidabashi has a strong sense of justice、 he decides to join the company because of his affections for Nanako. The three thus form a team.Yotsuya receives various requests to make money、 comes up with evil plans、 and tries to utilize Nanako’s powers. However、 the plans never work. Nanako’s rather clumsy and naive nature makes her impossible to control; what is more、 the team is assaulted by mad scientists who covet Nanako’s powers. This makes Nanako’s life a busy and hectic one. One day、 she uses up all her supernatural powers to save people from a big avalanche. However、 in return she regains her memory、 reunites with her older sister、 and goes back to being an ordinary girl.Nanako SOS is based on a manga by Hideo Azuma that was serialized in the monthly magazine Just Comic from 1980 to 1985. The anime series includes many original elements、 which differen-tiates it from Azuma’s unique surreal manga series. Airing of the 39 episodes began in 1983 on the Fuji TV network.
