| Synopsis | Garasu no Kamen、 Glass Mask Maya Kitajima calls herself to be an ordinary、 talentless girl. But she actually has the ability to memorize the lines of plays and movies by just seeing them once. One day、 the famous actress Chigusa Tsukikage recognizes Maya’s talent and chooses the girl as her successor. Gradually developing a fascination for theater、 Maya leaves her parents to seriously start training to become an actress、 joins the Tsukikage troupe formed by Chigusa as a scholarship student、 and works hard in her theatrical training.Meanwhile、 Masumi Hayami、 the son of the president of Daito Entertainments、 starts harassing Maya as part of his plot to ruin the Tsukikage troupe in order to obtain the performance rights of The Crimson Goddess, a legendary play once performed by Chigusa. However、 seeing Maya undeterred by any kind of harassment、 Masumi Hayami is moved by her devotion to theater and gradually becomes her secret fan and patron under the false identity of the Purple Roses Man.Supported by the Purple Roses Man、 Maya、 as Chigusa's successor、 trains hard to realize her dream of starring in The Crimson Goddess. She participates in the Japan Theatrical Contest and movie auditions and develops her acting skills、 and is later nominated to play the role of Helen in The Miracle Worker. Five actresses compete in the audition for the role of Helen、 including Maya's rival Ayumi Himekawa from the Ondine troupe. Maya and Yumi each play the role of Helen、 and both of them win the role in a double-cast arrangement. Subsequently、 the performance of Maya and Ayumi in The Mitacle Worker garners much praise、 and Maya wins the Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Art Festival . Chigusa attends the awarding ceremony and praises both Maya and Ayumi、 and nominates the up-and-coming two actresses as candidates to play the role of the Crimson Goddess. The original manga remains incomplete as of 2019. |
